This Week In Ch33v0z, The Alone In The Battlefield Edition

It's been a slow week in the world ch33v0z, even with a NEW GAME from Gamefly! It's mostly my fault, and in some ways it's your fault... actually, it's mostly your fault. I received a couple of new games from Gamefly and both are just... awful. They are utterly boring and ridiculous! Of course I'm referring to Alone In The Dark and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. EM:QW has already been banished from my land of gaming, and AITD is well on it's way. I did however manage to rack up few paltry ch33v0z, here is a very quick review.

Alone In The Dark

Wired-Hotwire a car-10G

Car Thievery-Unlock a car door after breaking the window-10G

BLACKOUT-Finish the episode without skipping any sequence-30G

This game is complete crap. I'm sorry if you love it, or like it or whatever, but I think it just sucks. The controls are bad, the camera is bad, the targeting system is bad, and the inventory system is awful. So, bad, bad, bad, and awful! Sounds like a great game, right? I think there are a lot of good ideas, but they are put together in a shitty way. Meh, whatever...ch33v0z!

BLACKOUT isn't too hard to get, especially because the story isn't that bad. Just make sure you listen to everything they have to say, and you'll get this one.

Car Thievery and Wired are gained within 10 seconds of each other, just before your first driving scene. Besides the arduous task of trying to guide your clumsy character over to the car, and smash the window with some object or trying to get the car to start using the lame "hot-wire" mechanic, these two cheevos are easy to get. Of course the game developers half-assed the cheevo pictures, which annoys the fuck out of me.

Anyway, don't expect to see much more of this game in the future.

Battlefield: Bad Company

Hold on!-Completed 'Air Force One' on normal-15G

Ooh Rah-Achieved half of all awards-20G

The love affair continues! I'm still plugging away at the single player campaign to scoop up those normal difficulty cheevos, and hitting the multiplayer hard pretty much every day.

Ooh Rah is a great cheevo to finally get, because many of the awards can be difficult to get. This being one of my favorite games adds extra weight to a difficult ch33v0.
Your tip for getting this one? I dunno... be a badass? That's what I did.

So that's it for the week, but I have another game on the way (hopefully not total shit) and we are on the precipice of a huge game flood that is called "the holiday season". Get your life boats ready, because we are going to be up to our necks in the sweet cheevoz.

This Week In Ch33v0z, The Mercenaries: Bad Company Edition

Oh the sweet cheevos! I've been slowly plugging away at the cheev-mines, even though my 57" DLP has been down all week, the cheevin' is just as good on a 20" CRT!... just kidding, it's not as good( :( <----- me). Anyway, enough of the pity-party... It's cheevo time!

Mercenaries 2: World In Flames

Be Quick or Be Dead-You sniped 50 enemy vehicle drivers-10G

Wheels of Steel-You came in first during a co-op race-50G

...And Justice For All-You verified all high value targets-50G

No More Mr. Nice Guy-You pissed off everyone in Venezuela-10G

I can't put this game down. I love, love, love it. It's the bizzle and the shizzle and it's eating up the majority of my game time. I finally beat the game, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop playing it. There is nothing like calling in an air-strike or hassling local factions, add in the co-op and you've got a winner!

...And Justice For All requires that you "verify" all the HVTs(High Value Targets), verify means capture or kill. Quick tip, there is a secret cheevo for capturing ALL the targets, if you are careful you can rack up another 50 points.
Be Quick Or Be Dead is annoying and time consuming, about 45 minutes or so. This should be done as soon as possible, or when everyone is pissed at you (see next cheevo) so that you can increase the amount of enemies around. Get yourself a Chinese sniper kit, and pop the driver of any hostile vehicle.
No More Mr. Nice Guy is super easy, and kind of fun. Just shoot a couple of friendlies until you get a nice "hostile" rating. Then move to the next faction. Try to do this early, when there are still side missions you can do for factions you've pissed off... that way you can get back into their good graces without forking over millions in bribes.

Battlefield: Bad Company

He might come in handy-Completed 'Par for the Course' on normal-15G

You and what army?-Completed 'Crossing Over' on normal-15G

Not even a nugget!-Completed 'Acta Non Verba' on normal-15G

Check My Grill-Found half of the gold bars-20G

I still can't stop playing this game. Addictive multiplayer is all that need be said when talking about it... I took a slow weekend to get some of the single player story cheevos that I was missing from this game. Quick note about this game, there are separate cheevos for playing this game on different difficulties (hard or normal), but they aren't "stackable".... that means you'll have to play it twice to get all of them.

Check My Grill is the only one that will require some help, check out this comprehensive guide for some tips on how to round up all the gold in this game, and get some sweet cheevoz too.

So that's it! It's been a slow week for cheevoz. I've actually got two new games from gamefly, and I just don't want to play them. So, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and Alone In The Dark may be on the docket for next week... until then, cheev-on faithful ch33v0 soldiers.

This Week In Ch33v0z, The Caught Up Edition

That's right, I'm finally back on a normal cheevo schedule! Well, not completely... I kind of pumped this one out today, so forgive the shortness. Soon I will be working on these from home instead of work, so my true literary greatness will be fully realized. Anyway, on to the cheevz! (Oh, and if you were wondering... YES, I'm phoning it in with the picture below. )

Geometry Wars 2

Wax Off-Perform the Wax On achievement twice in a single game, don't forget to breathe-15G

This fucking game! It's so awesome, and so damn annoying at the same time! I'm not the only one that feels this way!

Anyway, after a few unsuccessful attempts to capture the coveted Wax Off cheevo, I finally nabbed it! No tips here, just practice.

Mercenaries 2: World In Flames

The Hero and the Madman-You completed Mercenaries 2-50G

No Compromise, No Regrets-You battled for Caracas-20G

We'll Burn the Sky-You unlocked all landing zones-50G

Longing For Fire-You achieved maximum Chinese mood-10G

You Better Run-You verified Carmona-20G

Damage, Inc.-You used 20 airstrikes in co-op-50G

Runnin' with the Devil-You verified Blanco-20G

Nothin' But a Good Time-You destroyed 200 objects from the gunner seat in co-op-50G

Everybody Wants Some!!-You played with a Mercenaries 2 developer or a player who already had this Achievement-50G

Island of Domination-You achieved maximum Pirate mood-10G

Highway to Hell-You completed three races-10G

So I finally beat this game! I really love it, and I'm having a great time going through and finishing off all the side missions.

Quick tip on those of you that want to squeeze all the cheevz from this one: Make nice with ALL of the factions and unlock ALL of the stores, because after the last mission you can't get to some of them.

Almost all come with normal play, with the exception of Damage Inc., Nothing But A Good Time, and Everybody Wants Some. Those are picked up during co-op play, all of which I'm more than happy to help with. Thanks to Mike53414 I was able to pick up the viral cheevo, Everybody Wants Some.

Too Human

Without Equal-Defeat 1000 polarity enemies-10G

The Blood of Heralds-100 enemy leaders conquered-10G

Too Human, A.K.A. the level grind! Just working my way slowly through the levels. Pickin' up cheevoz along the way. Nothing that some time and perseverance won't get you, keep pluggin' away to get these cheevz.

That's it for this week! Short, sweet and full of cheevz. That's just the way I like it. Look for some more Mercs cheevoz and maybe a new game!

This Week In Ch33v0z, Last Week's Edition

This is the post that should have gone up last Friday, but I didn't post it and that's just how it is. However, I haven't forgotten about all my loyal cheev-hounds... so without further ado, I give you... This..uh... last week in ch33v0z!

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

Stand Up and Shout-You achieved maximum mood with the Allies-10G

Holy Smoke-You destroyed 50 objects with a grenade-20G

Pipeline-You captured all outposts for a single faction-20G

Hail and Kill-You destroyed 50 objects using melee-20G

The Analog Kid-You recruited Misha-20G

Heavy Metal Thunder-You successfully completed 10 action hijacks-10G

Little Savage-You destroyed 50 objects with an RPG launcher-20G

Forever Free-You achieved maximum P.L.A.V. mood-10G

Armaggedon It-You destroyed 20 buildings-20G

Partners in Crime-You experienced co-op-50G

Oil and Gasoline-You recruited Eva-20G

Gone Shootin'-You completed one of Fiona's challenges-20G

Tattooed Millionaire-You earned $1 million-25G

Balls to the Wall-You mastered the Winching Challenge-20G

Wild One-You recruited Ewan-20G

Dirty Deeds-You achieved maximum Universal Petroleum mood-10G

Mercenaries 2! I've been blowing shit up, and kicking ass all over Venezuela! This a great game, and tons of fun. Not only that, but the cheevz have been flowing freely like the black gold of Venezuela.

Most of the cheevoz that I got this week are due to repetitive actions like destroying X amount of this or killing X amount of those. A couple could use some explanations.

Dirty Deeds, Forever Free, and Stand Up And Shout are awarded for getting a maximum "friendly" rating with each of the different factions. You can achieve this by completing story missions or secondary objectives (HVTs and Priority Targets) or bribing them.

Balls To The Wall is not hard once you understand the point of the exercise. There might be some instructions on screen, but I'm a guy so I don't read that crap. The challenge requires you to raise a red tool box a specified number of meters above the ground. What they don't' tell you is that you need to stack it on one of the objects surrounding it. First grab one of the miscellaneous objects with the winch of the chopper (using left button on the d-pad) and place it in the yellow circle. Then pick up the red tool box and put it on top of said miscellaneous object. Voila.

Castle Crashers

The Traitor-Defeat any boss by playing one of his own minions-20G

LOVE this game... LOVE it.

The Traitor cheevo is attained by using one of the unlocked characters to defeat the associated characters boss. The easiest, fastest way, is to play in the arena. Win one wave in the arena, and you'll unlock a barbarian character. Use this character to defeat the barbarian boss, and booyah... cheevo unlocked.

Battlefield: Bad Company

Darwin's Parachute-There is no parachute, right?-10G

Still loving the Battlefield, still unlocking the sweet cheevos.

Darwin's Parachute is extremely easy, if you can get your hands on a chopper in multiplayer. Just snag a chopper, fly it as high as you can... and hit the B button to exit. As soon as you hit the ground, the cheevo will be yours.

That's pretty much it for last week. I've already started on this week's set of cheevos, so expect them out on time. Mercs 2, some arcade titles and maybe a new game. The surprises never end, and neither does my love for cheevoz.
